Does your incubator hold a steady temp?

Or does it vary up and down a few degrees? After a week of trying I've still not got mine to hold steady. I have no eggs in it right now just trying to get the hang of it. I can keep the humidity pretty steady between 50-55 % My temps range from 98-99-100 going up and down. Its a LG which I know doesnt get good reviews but its what I have to work with. I put a computer fan in it and have an egg turner in it. Will going up and down a few deg really hurt a hatch? Or is there a bit of room for error?

Mine does that also and I have had good hatches, as a matter of fact have 10 little ones and 4 more pipping out of 15!!! So go ahead and put them in also get ChooksChick's cheat sheet for incubation , it is great!!!

I little low wont hurt much, it might delay the hatch a day or so. A little high can be fatal.

The range you listed seems very workable to me.

I predict success.

My LG varies more than my homemade incubator--go figure. Perhaps use a heat sink--sealed jars of water to mitigate the up-down effect of the heating elements.

Have you read the LG thread??

I have 2 a Mini adv holds 99.6 +or - .5...and a Homemade Fridgbator with a Incubator Warehouse Thermostat, that also holds Temp as tight as the Mini Adv (Brinsea)....cva34

I have an old styrofoam (Little Giant). The temp does vary on on mine as well. It's usually around 99.5-100 but does dip to 98-99 and i've seen it around 101 also. It's always done that though. I've hatched probably 20-25 batches of eggs in this bator and seems to work pretty well. I have been using Chookschick's cheat sheet for this batch of eggs. Trying to see if I can improve my hatch rate a little more. Good luck and happy hatching!
