Dog attack :( Does and don'ts and life expectation?

That good she’s doing so well. Is her wounds scabbed over completely?
I'm sorry for not getting back to you until now.

The hen is doing really well, and yes, her wounds are scabbed over. I've been putting vetercyn and fly spray on still, one or two days I gave the vetercyn a break. We haven't gotten more treats yet, but she is eating more I've noticed, and her poops have pretty much returned to normal. She's very fierce and acts pretty normal to me, but still is being so good for letting me treat her.

I don't know when it'd be safe to finally let her go, I have no doubt she'd do fine now, but I worry about the flies. Will they bother her even if the wounds are scabbed? The puncture wounds are still healing over but they're scabbed and doing very good.

I would be worried if one busted open somehow maybe from swimming and then the flies start on her again. You’ve done such a good job caring for her.
Thank you!
Yea, that is a worry. How long do you think I'll need to keep her before it's safe to let her go? Or do I just need to watch and wait for her wounds to heal a little more?

Obviously I'll wait until her wounds are ready, but I could always release her in our backyard and see if she'll hang out, because then it might be possible to get her back in for another night, but my guess is she'll probably fly away.

Alright, thanks. I'd like to give her a few more days to let the wounds close and heal more.

And you know, I was worrying about that. I know if any of my birds haven't seen each other in a long time they can get riled up, especially the males when they see a girl. Hopefully they'll be calm whenever she comes back.

As an update on the hen, she is doing very well! I went ahead yesterday and decided to let her out in our yard. Her wounds are looking very good and I just made sure to put fly spray around them before I let her go, but the flies haven't bothered her at all. I even was able to corral her in for the night since she didn't fly away and I hope to do the same tonight.

Tomorrow I may let her out officially in the area behind our house, but I don't know yet. Could be I'll keep her in the yard for another day, so long as she doesn't fly off, to be able to keep an eye on her wounds to be sure they continue to do well.

To think at first I thought those maggots were the end of her! I'm so glad she's gotten better and I was able to save her. She's a sweet little hen. :)
