Dog attack - lost turkeys & ducks - Update pg 8

You might be surprised at some of the things available to people to use to collect small claims judgements. You can garnish wages. Employers hate that so you have the added benefit of the bad guy having his boss mad at him. In our jurisdiction you can have the sheriff or constable confiscate any property the bad guy owns and auction it. You just can't have them take anything that would disrupt their ability to make a living or cause a hardship. Imagine knowing that your bad neighbors could come home one day and find that all of their lawn furniture, gas BBQ grill, 4 wheeler, etc was gone and see an auction notice on their door. The vision is priceless. Also, if the bad guy also has a court date for the dog at large ticket they can rest assured that the judge will not be nearly as lenient if he/she knows that they haven't paid restitution. Even if the dog owner only has a brain, they might be able to figure that one out. Small claims has advanced quite a bit in the last few years. Our small claims court now even puts out a brochure about collecting. Every jurisdiction is different, and people should check their local laws.
