Dog attack! Need help ASAP! *((GRAPHIC PIC WARNING))*

Thanks to everybody! I am so thankful for this forum!! She looks good today. Up and walking around but I think her leg is a little swollen. Definitely thanking God!

Here is a pic of her back today with the bluekote on:

Here is a picture of her rear and how her feces is getting all over her due to the loss of some of her feathers. How should I best clean it off?

Thanks in advance!

Man are chickens tough!!!

I still have a part time house chicken who had her tail torn half off and all the skin on her back gone down to the muscle. Due to stress and the extra proteins and antibiotics I gave her her poop was loose and messy, so I trimmed all the butt feathers around her vent off short. They'll grow back just fine.

The Bluekote is an excellent idea, it is drying and antiseptic. You will be shocked how fast she heals. Just keep her separated and warm, a healing wound takes a ton of energy.

Now that my chicken's back skin is coming back, I am SHOCKED to see FEATHERS growing in it. Utterly dumbfounded. The feathered skin is creeping in from the edges. The chicken is picking off the scab edges as it heals and preening the new feathers. At first I was thinking you have a rumpless chicken how

but maybe not . . .

I'm glad to hear that your chicken is doing so well!

I was looking through the medicines I have for my pigeons and I found something that says it is for chickens too: Sulmet. It is an antibacterial drinking water solution. Do you think that this would be good for Clucky?

My dad talked to a man he works with who runs a pig farm & has had chickens. He told us what else we need to do and he is going to bring my dad some penicillin shots to work to give to her. Thanks again so much to everybody for all your help!

If her feet are swelling, I would suspect infection. Penicillin or baytril (you will need a prescription for the baytril) are your best choices. Do you have a vet who will take a look at her?
