The neighbor's dog got the ONLY one I had named on the second day they were allowed out of the coop. The girls snuck under the fence....the injured girl ran back to the coop after the neighbor grabbed the dog.
Matilda Sassaparilla had some blood on her right leg with no other visible injuries. I cleaned her up with salt water (cringe) and then rinsed with plain and it didn't look horrible. (She also didn't complain--which made me feel better.) Just a puncture and cuts on her right leg; given some injuries here, it seems pretty tame.
She is back inside in her box in the bathroom shower where she grew from a day old to about a week ago. I turned on the heater for hypothermia and shock. I made the electrolyte solution I found here (2cups water/ 2tbl sugar/ .5t of salt/.5 t soda) and put both yogurt and her crumble in--all within neck's reach. I have seen one sip of "water". Should I give her scrambled eggs? I think the chick crumble is pretty high in protein.
No heavy breathing. Nothing LOOKS broken (but I likely didn't check as aggressively as a vet since I was afraid of her pain) She was listing toward the side which I think is uninjured, but I thought that might be due to pain on the injured side; she seems more upright now. Right foot seems to not want to work/stays in curled position. Is this a pain response?
The most pathetic chirps are breaking my heart.
Anything else to think about (except how to keep them on the right side of the fence??!)?
