Dog attack. Twice. I am devastated.

I'm so, so sorry for your rotten neighbors and their vicious dog. I hope you DO take them to court, I'm sorry if that sounds a bit curt, but they clearly have not taken the measures they should to keep their animal restrained or kept in their yard.

As for duck prices, I'm not sure...it depends on the breed and the breeder. Where do you live? I'm in WA and there are several exceppent breeders of Runners, Cayugas and Call ducks in King County. But outside of that, I don't know. :/

We live in Michigan. The breeds we lost were: 1 black runner, 1 Cayuga/jumbo Pekin mix that we hatched from our own flock, and 2 khaki Campbell's.

$7.25 for a day old KC
Usually it is $5 for a day old mix.

You should not only add the price of food for a year but the time you put in with them.

And the loss of the eggs for the time it takes to grow our replacements to laying age. Around here duck eggs go for $4-6/dozen. Estimate how many eggs your ducks would have laid between now and when the new ducks start to lay and add that into the cost.

I would find out the cost of an adult duck too. Charge whichever is higher. Day old duckling and year of food or the adult duck replacement cost

Something very sad happened today. My precious 3 year old daughter was picking green beans in the garden and she thought she saw something black in the tall grasses behind the garden area. She came screaming and running to me with such terror in her eyes like I've never seen before crying, "the dogs are coming back to get me mommy!" That just really breaks my heart

That is awful and as sad as it is should also be reflected in your compensation, what this has done to your children.
