Hi, Red is doing very well. We changed his bandages today. It still looks awful, but there is no smell & he has new skin growing. I'm very happy, plus he has been eating a lot... we have been giving him a healthy variety of foods

Oh, that is good to hear. Sometime when you get a chance, a picture would be good. Good luck with him and getting him well.

Hi all... I forgot to take pictures at this past bandage change, I will get some next time.

There is new skin growing & a lot of feathers. He was pecking off the old skin & eating it... gross!!! But I guess God gave them knowledge I don't have, lol. He's still not well enough to be with the other chickens, but he's doing really good.

On a side note, the dog has been coming back and pawing at the gate. It is an aluminium gate with chainlink, and I covered it with chickenwire. You can see where the dog has been chewing and pushing on the chainlink, so I have covered it with barbedwire. This morning right before 8 am the dog came up again; huge white dog. I'm the only one home today, so I grabbed up the 12g and went out. He was trying to get through the fence again, about 20 ft away... but I couldn't get the darned safety off. Hahaha. So the dog ran off home & lived another day.

I was pretty nervous to use the buckshot, I knew it was going to bruise my shoulder bad, but I was prepared

Update, Red got the bandages off & pulled off all the dead skin... lots of it, but he must know what he's doing, because it looks better. We took pics & re-bandaged.

The skin looks pretty good. I would probably leave the bandage off next time, and let it heal. Glad that he is doing so well.
