Dog Attack

Is it her poop that smells like urine? I'm not sure what would cause a urine smell. Write again tomorrow, hopefully someone with more knowledge will be on.

Before syringe feeding her, you have to learn some things. Some folks say that feeding with a syringe is their preference, but some say that it is safer to tube feed, because with a tube there is no chance of the hen aspirating. Here are two threads and an article, and just search for some more if you have questions, or need to feel more confident. There are some youtube videos about it, just make sure to watch more than one in case someone missed a detail. This can be intense stuff.

I have to put my baby to bed, but keep posting if you need more help, and hopefully someone will see it.

I'll be praying for your hen!

I am so sorry you are going through this right now with your beautiful girls. It sounds like you are doing a great job of trying to keep them comfortable and monitoring their status and their changing needs. (((hugs))) I might try to keep it simple with the food offerings, as long as there is food available if she's interested, and if she's not, it's understandable given what she just went through. Hydration and keeping any wounds clean and protected are the most important things.

I picked up a spray bottle of something called scarlet wound oil. I'm not sure if anyone is familiar? I got it to have on hand just in case of something like this happening with a chicken, but I would think saline and antibiotic ointment would do the same thing. Good luck, I hope they pull through for you.

Yes, it's her poop.

With Ash it looks like the thing hanging off of her... well half of it is gone. I gave her a wash with saline a few minutes ago

If omlette recovers, will she be able to walk again? She will squirm and flop around in the box like she's trying to move around sometimes (Rarely) and she uses her wing to steady herself, but she never really gets anywhere. During the attack I found her lying on the ground all beat up, so she never really had it in her to walk, even when the dogs were still there. That's why I think she broke her leg. Chicken wheelchairs probably aren't a good idea because my yard is very bumpy.

I gave her saline, and we have Gatorade electrolyte drink mix but my mom wouldn't let me give it to her because she said artificial sweeteners might not be good for her. Are they OK to give her? What should I do next?
Can you take some photos of the one with the bluish comb?
Does she seem to have a hard time breathing? Can you feel if there's any air bubbles under the skin?
She was probably squeezed, but she may have some puncture wounds too, have you looked underneath her?

I would give sugar free gatorade with artificial sweetener. Regular is fine to give in moderation, but if you make homemade, use real sugar.
Instructions on how to syringe fluids are in the link below.

My mom won't let me take pictures of her until my dad comes home from work.
She doesn't seem to have any trouble breathing, and I haven't felt for air bubbles. I'll do that now. She has a scratch on her back if that's what you mean by puncture wounds. A little bit ago I gave her electrolyte, and I haven't checked on her since. I don't want to hurt her by lifting her up but I'll do my best. All she has been doing is napping for the last few hours

Thank you guys sooooo much! The electrolyte helped a lot and she was flopping around the box. Now she is napping in a corner under the heat lamp, but her legs don't work so she can't walk and I heard that can interfere with how her digestive system works.
