Dog attack!!

Help. The neighbor's dog attacked my flock. One cockeral and one older hen are dead. My favorite hen (because she lays blue/green eggs) is badly hurt. She is dragging one of her legs, has a bare/bloody spot on her back. She can still manage to get around and survived all day and all night. I put her by herself to keep the others from picking on her. Should I put her down?? I don't know what to do. So sad.....

Oh, I'm so sorry! I don't have any medical advice about your hen, I just feel for you

One of my dogs manages to kill about a hen a year. There is no doubt she would like to do it some more, but we just manage the whole situation carefully. Harder with a neighbor's dog. Hopefully they were horrified and are responsible people?

I would give her aspirin. From someone here I got 1 low dose/ quart or 1 regular / gallon of water. My alpha hen developed a horrible limp and could barely walk. With aspirin water she quickly improved. If she is your favorite, it would be well worth investing some TLC. There are others here who have done chicken rehab with bouncy chair type slings, so I'd say you've got a good shot.

Our rooster was attacked by a fox about 2 years ago and someone here advised adding a vitamin to his water, which we did. Also we treated his multiple puncture wounds with a triple antibiotic ointment although you need to do a search here to make sure it doesn't contain one particular medicine that is harmful to chickens. For what it's worth, our rooster is still with us so certainly, depending on the wounds, yours has a chance.

I lost my entire flock of ducks (9) to a neighbor's dog 2 weeks ago. I know how devastating it is.
