dog attack

Best of luck. I had 18 gone in one day due to neighbor's "bird dog". I took out the dog in a swift action with a 40 cal DH had bought me for christmas last year. Great pistol. Clean kill. Naturally neighbor was called, police was called and animal control was notified. All the police wanted to know when they came out was if I had my gun secured before anything. Yep, secured alright. Neighbor came and got the dog, I got a check for $10.00 per chicken. Funny thing tho, he trains the dogs to hunt, this was a dog from alabama. Big $$$. Too bad, dead dog now.

hey fox!! Ya i know what lay and stay means. And i really like it. If dog returns it will fall victim of sss. Dog owner is a real piece of work with many personal problems and I am just gonna take one of his problems and "TAKE CARE OF IT". He will probably not even know it is missing! Chickens really want to free range but it is too dangerous!

Sorry for your loss. The game cam is a good idea.
Once you ID which dog is near your coup, SSS..Its sad for the dog, however people must learn they cannot let there dogs run amuck.I raise hens for control of my familes personal food supply, not for fun or pets. How many eggs won't you get now because of that dogs actions..? Zero tolerance here for any proven chicken killers and those critters with a very strong interest in my hen house....

Did'nt last long. date is wrong. guess i did'nt get lucky. Glad i did'nt free range them. Hunting season comes early.

I have just experienced my first Dog attack.Neighbors dogs broke through the wooden fence and Mauled my Chickens. My Roo got it the worst.Looks like he put up a good fight. None have died, yet. They are bloodied and bald and its night time so I havent surveyed all the damage. When I went and told the neighbor, she acted like it wasnt a big deal.I am seriously so ticked I cant even put how Im feeling into words. I have my own dogs that I am responsible for, why are other dog owners so lame? I gave her fair warning that I will take care of those dogs myself if they are on my property ever again. If she really cares about those dogs, she will keep them contained and I wont have to be the bad guy.

fishman65, that is one BIG dog, looks kinda part mastiff by the coloring. By the stance you can tell he is thinking fun and games.

Idk about ur state but mine clearly states that all dogs hsve to be on a leash at all time and cannot be free ranged. So if its not on a leash and not friendly its gone or at least some 30 cal lead is chasein it acrosss the feild. Anything else is trapped and only 2 thing has ever come out of that trap alive. Now if they are your income you can sew the person who owns the dog that is takeing the lives of your livestock.

in alabama you are allowed to RECOVER 2X the value of your loss. All you have to do is prove that the dog did the deed. And then deal with rath of your ticked off neighbor. Easier to just take care of business and move on.

Would that also catch harmless animals as well such as cats and natural wildlife? I was always depressed when innocent victims where caught in traps and would come to our clinic frightened and injured. Perhaps a Night Guard (a device that uses a red beam of light) would be beneficial? A half hour or so just before dusk and after daylight are called the "killing hours" for a good reason.

Chickens really love to be out and eat bugs and weeds and it is so beneficial and humane. It is really unfortunate that is so risky and they can pay with their lives. Having a good sized flock is very difficult to protect from predators and more folks are getting Livestock Guardians Dogs such as Great Pyrenees, Anatolian Shepherds and the like to keep coyotes and dogs away. Perhaps its worth looking into for your situation?

I second the LSG dog. They are great and make you sleep easy at night.
