dog attack....

OUR dog go into the chickens. All are dead except for one very injured BR and one BSL that I don't think is going to make it (her comb is already quite dark).

The BR's back is quite tore up, her tail is bloody and her breathing is labored. She's 30+ weeks.

the BSL has passed.

I brougth the BR inside, got her washed up and put her in a large tote with some scrambled eggs. I'm going to put neosporin on her open wounds.

Should I sew up the tears in her skin, or would it not hold? I also found a few other shallow puncture wounds. Should I also stitch these shut, or just slather them with neospoin?

No, leave open, smeared very very thickly with neosporin. Crushed aspirin for shock and pain. Extra protein also. She may not eat very much for the first day, but keep giving her mash and eggs. If you have poultry drench, give that too.

If you were closer, I'd come and clean up the rest for you...

I am so sorry about your chickens. Darn dogs anyway. On the one hand they keep predators away. What are you going to do to the dog?

If you don't have a dog run, maybe you could get some 50-100 roll of fencing from FFH or TSC for $100, some stakes, and just rig a run for the winter... ?
