Dog attacked, had to butcher, question about eating

This afternoon I found that one of my *sweet* dogs managed to chase down one of my hens and bite her in her thighs. She could not stand and was in obvious pain so I made the decision to put her down. I already feathered and butchered her.

The puncture wounds were in the meat of the chicken, nothing internally was damaged. I am wondering if she would be safe to eat, if I need to cut out the area of the puncture wounds before brining, etc. Any help will be appreciated.

I would feel comfortable eating it after brining especially. Chicken is always well cooked, so that should take care of any issues. Birds that are hunted in the wild are retrieved by dogs, seems the same to me?

I agree as well.

Glad you could do it. Sorry to hear about it though.
On a lighter note, and hopefully not out of line...your title makes it sound like you had to butcher the dog & are asking questions about eating the dog! (or maybe i just have a warped sense of humor

in which case, I humbly apologize)
