Came home today to feathers everywhere, I thought buffy was dead, but come to find out she was still alive. I scooped her up and immediately brought her to the coop for quiet. I saw no major injuries, but didnt try to look to hard as I could tell she was very sore and almost comatose.
It is now 6 hours later, and Ive checked on her every hour and little by little she seems to be doing better. At last check, she actually went to the waterer on her own. But, egats! She has an area the size of a half dollar that is fleshy looking and obviously sore from the plucking. So, now Im wondering what to doctor that with? The flies are obviously an issue so I need something that will deter them, and something that will keep the area from getting infected. Thanks for any and all advice. I lost a barred rock today as well from the dog attack. It has been a horrible day!
