The thermometer on the porch read 78 degrees. Holly smiled. Spinning around she hollered up the stairs to her Parents. “I am going to go to the pool!” With out waiting for a response she herself around the banister and clambered up the stairs. Holly loved Swimming in the pool. Pulling on her swimsuit her mother knocked on the door to the room. Taking time to admire the poster of her “future pool”, she drew before opening the door. “Oh! Hi, Mom!” She said. Walking over to the bed she grabbed her towel and slipped on her flip- flops. “Holly? Can you bring Arica with you?” At those words she cringed. Arica, her 13 year old flirty cousin stood behind Mom….she was staying for the summer and had got there a day before. “Ah….s-sure.” She stammered. Arica was texting furiously and she had sunglasses over her gray-blue eyes. “Good. That’ll give me time make some cookies for the Stevens. Holly faked a smile and slipped past her mom. “C’mon Arica!” she yelled as she slid down the stair-rail. She slid her phone into her purse and walked down the stairs. When the two girls were finally at the pool, Arica hurried over to the small group of teenage girls and dived in with them…leaving her purse on the side-walk. Picking it up, Holly thought, how irresponsible of her! She locked it safely in a locker and dived in the deep-end…FAR away from the Teenagers. Laps and diving with her friend Morgan was Holly’s favorite thing to do at the public pool. Being only 12 years old Holly was an excellent swimmer and also excelled in Horse back riding and soccer. Although her grades in school occasionally dropped here and there she was altogether a fine student. “Morgan! C’mon! Over here!” She hollered to her friend. Morgan had white-blonde hair and green eyes; also was on a swim team. Holly couldn’t be on a swim team yet because her Father feared that she wouldn’t pass. Then again…he has never seen her swim. Typical work-a-holic dads. Morgan made her way over to the deep end her ponytail dripping with chlorinated water. “I only have ten minutes left here. C’mon jump in!” cried Holly in despair. Morgan flashed her beautiful smile at Holly and slipped off her shoes before she dived in next to her BFF. Holly smiled and glanced over at her cousin Arica. She sat on the edge of the pool next to Joshua Bryan. The High school “hot-shot”,from the blue house on the right side of the cul-de-sac. Arica memorized his address. “So….you come here often?” Josh asked as he scooted a little closer. Holly nudged Morgan and whispered, “Lets go spy!” Pointing to Josh and Arica a few yards away from the group of other flirty teens. “Well….I will be. I am staying with my cousin….she is like a big fan of swimming so she like comes and swims like every day after school. Do you?” Arica went on . “I’d like it if you came!” She murmured. Holly looked at Morgan with a appalled expression on her face. “GROSS!” she whispered. Morgan nodded…bobbing her blonde hair.

Nessa looked behind her when she heard the bark. "Pippin!" She acknowledged him. "I'm on the scent of a badger. I figured Scrouge would need some food."

Rinty stalked through the grass tail up, head down. He searched the area for a sent of food. He heard something growling in the dense bushes near by. He cocked his ears forward and slinked toward the noise. He peeked through the grass and saw, a wolf! He turned and bolted back to the other dogs.

Nessa, surprised by his sudden take off, yipped and jumped back. The huge timber wolf sprang from the grass, on top of her. He snarled and attacked her. Nessa rolled to the side. Nessa jumped up and ran. The wolf chased after her. Nessa ran until her legs ached.She spotted a cave, then looked behind her- the wolf was nowhere to be seen. She limped into the cave and looked to the front. No wolf. She looked back ahead of her- the wolf was right there, staring her down! "Hello. Vanessa."

"WILLOW!!" Rinty howled and Willow came tearing around the corner. "Wolf!!" Rinty screamed. They dashed off in the direction Nessa and the wolf ran.
They saw an old cave and heard snarling. They snuck to the corner and peered inside. The wolf was bearing down over Nessa. They could hear her panting. With out hesitation Rinty leaped on top of the wolf and sank his teeth deep in to the wolfs neck. Willow boxed the wolfs face with his paws. The cave was loud with snarling and thumping.
