Dog eating poo

You are right, it is a fair question! I was just thinking back on how many times I've tried to discourage poop eating...and how unsuccessful I've been! No harm ever came to the naughty canines, but I wouldn't say its impossible. I'm 64;)
Sarcasm wreaks with this one. ^^^^
Lol

Im 44. I know dogs eat poop. But he goes crazy for chicken poop.thought because it's poultry carry certain things like salmonella that dogs could get sick eating their feces.
Try a little bowl of chicken feed for your dog----let it stay there for a few days and see if it will eat it----Might just want some of that feed----LOL

It is a very legitimate question! I can remember back when I worried over it when I first got chickens. I really didn't think that it would hurt them, I just thought it was a yucky thing. I didn't like it. Then I just thought, dogs will be dogs. My dogs have never gotten sick over it all of these years. I would dare say, don't worry, your dog, or dogs will be fine. :)

Thank you!

All my dogs eat poo, it's just what they do. My newest, however, eats so much it makes her sick (she reprocesses it and spreads it throughout the house):th. Now she wears a plastic basket muzzle whenever she goes in the yard.
Aww. Poor pooch. But if it keeps her in good graces inside then its probably a really good idea. Thank goodness my birds are in a 2ac fenced yard of their own :wee or they be basket cases too

Uhg! My dogs think it's part of their daily feed... they especially LOVE broody poos. And my dogs can tell which hens, out of 50+ chickens are the broody ones and follow them around waiting.

I saw one of my dogs try to eat goat berries as they were coming out of the goat! :sick

I'm sure just like humans... different animals have different tollerances. AS much as hate the eating it.. it's not nearly as disgusting as them rolling in it and trying to get in my bed. :he

Now out of sillyness, I can't help but wonder if I'm saving any $ on my feed bill!

Also some people claim fermenting your feed makes the dogs less interested because there is less undigested stuff. Not true in my case, they still very much like it. But actually, it's still only certain poos. I see them sniff and then pass by others.

Man... this ALMOST makes me wanna pass on having dogs or chickens... but oh, lets not forget that cat poo they love sooo much! :barnie
