how about a tire tied to a rope for him to pull at?(as long as you teach him that only tires are to be pulled, and not poeople or things that are meant for people. also, teach him the take, and the leave it... commands... imperative. its really easy to teach.. even with nero, who had been half trained for attack and grab methods. we had to untrain him. he knew to grab, but not the 'drop it'; or leave it...hotdogs chopped in to teenie weenie pieces worked really well for the drop it command, as did peanut butter /mollasses cookie pieces...
catch it while u can... with that size dog, getting him to 'leave it' will be difficult later on when u need it. its also a fun command to do... teaching with many objects, teach: take the dolly. take the keys, take the shoe (or whatever toys or objects u want him to take (newspaper, sock laundry bag, keys dropped on the floor, whatever), games games games...
