I hope the good memories of your little JRT will comfort you
and your husband and help to ease the pain of her loss.
Thank you drdoolittle for the words of comfort. Vet did tell us that they were serious kind, and not life threatening, the only thing that I can think of it that she did receive some type of internal infection, possibly from a puncture wound that was not visable from a tooth puncture. JRT was definitely a fighter though, day before she passed, she was up walking a bit, wagging her tail. drinking lots of fluid, gave us alot of hope that she was on her way to recovery. Our treating vet does not do cremations so we took her to another vet that does perform the service and we also asked for a report for the cause of death. Our vet did make several follow up calls to us after the initial attack to see how she was faring and did voice concerns that she was not eating and recommend that we force feed her which was vital for her recovery, which we were doing, but after only several bites at a time, she would refuse. I dont know if she was refusing the food because she wasnt hungry, or if she just put a block to food because that was the reason why she got attacked by the other dog. My MIL (who is 83) had witnessed the whole event. She told me that the pitbull started eating out of the JRT bowl and that the JRT did one of her high in the air snap attacks toward the pitbull, and well..................the rest of the story has been told. We do have alot of fond memories of her to carry with us, her favorite activity was riding in a back pack with my husband on his motorcycle and riding on the jet ski with us when my husband was physically able to enjoy them as well.
