Dog gashed side from bouncing into chicken run - graphic pics

I took both of my big dogs out this morning to play in the snow. I went to check on the chickens and grab the last egg when I heard the two bounce into the run while playing.
Then, I heard crying and whining. Looked and my one girl kept looking toward her back end while yelping.
I brought them in to check her out and we found a gash on her right side.
It didn't look too bad at the top, but the bottom was opened more - so took her to the vet.
It was worse than we thought. Ugh.
She is home and resting now

We just watched the video, she bounced into the fence post while the other dog was playing with her.
She's resting now, but is a very active dog. So we will have to keep her quiet and still for awhile.

She is in pain and we put the T-shirt on her to keep her from biting at the incision.

Aww, she's not a happy camper is she! Good job getting her right in to the vet so the could suture that up! Yikes! I think she'll heel up in no time.

She's been resting all day. She's in pain though. Hoping tomorrow will be better for her.

I went out to see where she got caught up on the fence. Apparently it wasn't the post that she bumped into, but the edge of the cattle panel that sticks out about an inch maybe. Since there is no give, it ripped her skin.
She is laying on the floor and whining on and off. She has eaten and is drinking fine.
When we take her out, she rolls in the snow for relief I guess.
I feel really bad as we just got the chickens in November and added the cattle panel run as an extra layer of security for them. Now, it has me wondering if I need to do more to the run to prevent this from happening again. Or if I really want to continue investing in a backyard hobby that has become more costly than I imagined?

Poor baby! Glad she's all fixed up. Sounds as if she's sucking up a ton of sympathy with that sad little face . She's adorable BTW.

Is there some way that you could pad the end of the cattle panel so that it doesn't cause harm again? I'm thinking that some of that black Styrofoam that they use to insulate pipes might work, attached with zip ties.
