Dog gashed side from bouncing into chicken run - graphic pics

I searched for the right percentage of curcumin for dogs, but I didn't find any info. I did find some dog products with anywhere between 2% to 95%.

Must vary

Here's a pic illustrating sisterly love. :loveView attachment 1226939

Awwww

I first started using turmeric for my GSD for joint discomfort and it seemed to help. What convinced me was one day I noticed Zach seemed to be in more discomfort. Why I asked myself? ... DUH! I had forgotten to give him his turmeric for 3 days! I just used some turmeric I got in bulk. Nowadays I would be more wary of the source/quality.

Wow so it does work!

I imagine they all do but the others are trying to sell something maybe ha

I thought I would come in and show a progress pic.
I do have a question, if this were your dog, would you have the Staples removed in the minimum of 10 days or wait the maximum of 14? Friday is 10 days - otherwise she will have to wait until Monday.

You don't want to remove the staples too soon. There is also no reason you can't remove the staples yourself if you want to. However the vet may want to check to see how well it healed.

I told my husband, I could remove them. I removed her stitches when she got spayed. But, he wants the vet to do it. She's his baby. Lol
He even grew up on a dairy farm. Geesh.

An update - We removed her staples and all was well until the evening. She bumped into a drawer in the kitchen and part of the area reopened. Ugh. The opening is about a 1.5" long and about as wide open. I have been putting vetericyn and a non-adhesive pad on. To keep it the pad in place, I have been using an off brand of vetwrap that we found at the local farm store.
We decided to let it heal rather than getting it re-stictched. We decided this since she is a very active dog and we didn't want her to have anesthesia again in such a short time.
Unfortunately, I have not taken any pics yet.
Should I continue to only use the vetericyn? Or should I use Neosporin or even try something else (Manuka honey)?
Any other ideas?
It seems to be healing well.

Personally, I would leave it open. This may make you feel better. Most animals heal up really well. I once had a goat rip her side open on some unknown sharp object. Instead of stitching it, the vet cleaned the wound very well and trimmed off the loose hide. The goat was left with an open wound about one foot square. I was to keep it clean and apply an antibiotic ointment once or twice a day. It healed up very well and the scar was smaller than a quarter. If you take her in to be restitched, most likely the vet would just give a local, if that, and stitch it.

Both times before they put her completely under. :(
I have read a lot about bandaging it and keeping it clean and moist. I am afraid that if I leave it open she will lick it or the other dogs will or bump into it again. The bandage isn't on tight so it can still heal. I don't know. :hit
