My ducks have made a hole in their pond and needless to say one got out and my dog got it. (Monday) He “played” with her who knows how long. When I got home she was stripped of back feathers neck to tail. Even skin is missing. I sprayed her with blue kote. This morning she has bubbles of pus everywhere. It’s gross.

Anyway you can catch her and isolate her a while to let her heal?

You need to clean the wounds really well, I like saline wound wash for this, then add a good layer of antibiotic ointment. Is she eating and drinking? Any chance of internal damage?

Oh yeah she wasn’t moving much when I found her. I picked her up and took her to the house. She is in a dog crate and warm. She ate some scrambled eggs this morning but wouldn’t drink any water. When I got home today I got another bowl of water and she drank it all. (By hand). Then I got electrolytes mixed with water and gave her that. She wouldn’t eat the peas that I laced with cephalexin.

Poor baby she really sounds in bad shape. If you don’t feel you can give her the care she needs you might be able find a rescue that would take her call your vet or vets in the area. Someone may even put her down for you if you feel she is suffering. I am very sorry.

I will see how she is in the morning. Thank you Miss Lydia
