DOG HELL - being repurposed for chicken heaven....

I'm sooo jealous

yep that building screams CHICKENS!(maybe even a duck or two)

as far as the lino, we put some in our coop which has a wood floor, I thought I would see a big benefit and I haven't. If my floor were cement I personally wouldn't bother with lino(unless maybe you found it free at a dump site or something)

also, for the run if you plan on screening it in, check and see if you have a Habitat for Humanity in your area, they store whatever gets leftover(doors, windows, etc) and sell it for cheap, we got a nice screen door for our run last year for $5

Good luck I'm excited for you!

I could not judge that until I had seen the occupants.

A dog kept in a kennel as a private space at the end of stimulating activities during the day, a kennel being clean and secure, offering good shelter, does not constitute hell. I have seen many a dog chose their open kennel run for their private retreat, when other choices were abundant. Things are not always black and white. The dog that lives on the furniture, but with nobody home for 14 hours a day and a quick open door to the yard for 5 minutes upon arrival of the owners, might not have it as good as a well kept kennel dog. That is merely the point I am trying to make. That there often is a whole lot more to what you see and assumptions are not always correct. I have both kennels and lots of time in my house for my dogs, and refuse to judge anyone's choice unless I had witnessed suffering, abuse or neglet, regardless of in what setting that would take place.

very doable as a coop, no comment on the dog issues i have 5 and all 5 stay inside and 4 are in kennels with blankets and nummies to chew on while i'm away

that place looks like a potential torture chamber for dogs. ugh, hope those dogs found better homes when the previous owner moved out. what a shame. lets hope they were livestock guarding dogs and meant to deal with such temperatures and distance from their owners?

as far as the building goes, what an awesome structure and blank canvas for your chickens! have fun with it and post more pics!

I must totally be missing something with the whole dog thing, a torture chamber??? To me it looks like a rundown dog kennel and nothing else. I personally would never have my dogs out in a kennel, But it certainly doesn't look that bad, they prob had hunting dogs in it and maybe it was nice in the day....you guys gotta let up on the tortured dog scenerio.....whatever it was, it will make a GREAT chicken coop

That is a fab idea, I'll be checking for a Habitat for Humanity. Hopefully I can find some great steals there, love the idea of reusing discarded building supplies.
