Does he like car rides? My little white chihuahua slips through the fence sometimes...he is a wanderer, and his homing instinct is broken. He once followed my neighbor home because he couldn't find "home" four houses up the street
When he takes himself on walks, I drive my 66 stang (his all time FAVORITE ride) down the road looking for him. If he sees it, he comes running. I know. My dog has me well trained
Im really sorry your little guy is missing, and am sending positive vibes your way. Please keep us updated, and if he isn't home by tomorrow, I would post him on petharbor.com, and contact your local Animal Services if you have one...most of them only keep dogs 72 hours. Is he wearing tags?

To hell with the neighbors, anyone who has half a heart would understand. If I heard my neighbor outside shouting I would pronbably head out there in my bathrobe, fuzzy slippers, toting the shotgun, but once I knew the story I would probably join in the search.
I really hope for the best that he comes home safe very soon.
If you want, there are a few things you can do.
I'm not sure what kind of setting you live in, but you could put up flyers or even call the closest shelter to you and tell them to please alert you if they pick up a dog with the same description as yours.
I understand some of those things won't work very much if you live in a rural country type area, but just a thought.
Anyway, i will be crossing my fingers that he will find his way back to you.
My dh would also take the dogs out without a leash. Not a big deal now that the yard is fenced, but I would rarely ask him to take them out before then.
Lol, I yell. For the dogs, cats, even the chickens the other day. People will survive and should understand. It is not like you do it constantly. One time my sick cat got out I even went to all the neighbors letting them know we would trespass to look for her,and then off we went yelling her name. She was in my yard but at the time I did not know and everyone had their *grid* to check.

We used to have a dog, we had to give her away to a friend because she froze in AK weather, Ripley, well once she ran away and we didn't see her for 2 days, and it was snowy outside. She was fine when we caught her and she usually froze when it was snowy outside. Don't worry I'm sure hes fine
Our little man is back home!! We think he got confused in the woods and was lost. I heard a neighbor down the roads dogs going crazy and hubby went walking down that way and called and Bodhi came running out of the woods to him. Poor thing was shivering so bad he could hardly stand up. We are very happy to have him home, he is our little snugglebug.. Our other dog is a big grouch so we have to have Bodhi to love on.
I am researching fencing costs this morning!
Thank you everyone for your thoughts. It is nice to have a place to come to when you need support, even if it is in the middle of the night.
