Dog is obsessed

My dog just stands or sits or lays next to the chicks’s coop. He only leaves to go for walks, or to drink.
They were outside, but a rat or something grabbed two and I moved them back inside.
Whenever the other dog gets near them he starts screaming.
He also likes looking at the chickens and taking them in and out of their coop, moving them around the storage house and such.
I don’t think he plans on eating them, but he’s obsessed.

Shetland sheepdog. He’s quit the herder indeed. But with the chicks, it’s like he’s super obsessed with them.

He is doing his job and protecting them Working dogs like shetlands, border collies, gr. pyrenees, etc. need jobs and protecting the herd or flock is one of those.
