I guess it's different in other places, but here the money from licenses goes toward the local shelter from which one of my dogs came. Animal control is always helpful around here. We have had a need to trap cats on occasion and all we have to do is call to let them know we have a cat in a trap and they are out here within an hour to pick it up. Not a bad way for my license fees to be spent, imo.
