Dog needs put down. We would rather let him go peacefully at home.

I had to put my Kees down...not by vet but with a .22. Would I do it again? Probably not depending on the situation and cases of vets can not come out for house calls are so rare. Even you want to pay extra for his time but they don't want to. However I would do it with someone else's dog or a feral dog that is suffering. Some vets are somewhat like insurance companies.

I put my childhood dog to sleep when she was 17. She too was blind and deaf. I did bring her to the vet, I carried her in....and I can tell you that I truly believe that all the counted was me being there for her. I held her when she died. The last thing she smelled was me.

When it gets to that point your smell is the only one that matters to your dog. Just to know that you are there with him....wherever there is....and then for him there is no more pain.

My heart is breaking for you. A gun is the best way without a vet, but I don't know if I could bring myself to do it to my baby girl. I would see about getting a farm vet out, as they tend to do housecalls.

If you can't.. well... I don't know babe.

I am so sorry.

I had my vet come to the house to put Sally down in June. I was very lucky she was willing to do that.

I've taken an animal to a vet to have it put down and been informed it was against their policy to allow the owner to be with the animal when they died. Just so you know.

I have held and petted and and told every single dog I loved them as they were being put down. If a vet said they wouldn'nt allow me to do that for my dog I would find another vet, if I were you. I have never had a vet tell me I couldn't do that.
