She will open one eye to see if you really, really, really mean she has to get up in the morning. If she does, she goes outside then beelines back to bed until midmorning.

She will use a puppy pad - then folds the edges over the mess. Then hides the whole thing - behind the door, in her food bowl, in the basement drain, under her bed. (She isn't left excessive lengths of time but when people start new schedules, it takes time for her to adjust her timing.)

She grunts like a pig when she isn't happy but never refuses to comply - even for least favorite things like nail trims. Sometimes she grunts (a little differently) when she is very happy.

She wiggles all over when her blanket is spread over the couch. She has never, in 3 years, jumped on the couch without an invitation.

She adores car rides.

She cannot tolerate crates. She stresses out when people pack suitcases - alternating between joy (if she thinks she is coming) and despair (if she thinks she is not coming). She was found, nearly dead from starvation in an abandoned house. Then spent many months being treated for heartworm.

Now, she is doted on.

This picture is Lily doing one of her jobs - exuding peace and warmth after a nice belly rub session on the couch. She also excels at her other two main jobs - being delighted when mom comes home and taking dad for long walks.
