Dog still having "accidents" in the house

We tried feeding in the crate but she would not eat. I take her out every hour and after she goes she immediately gets a treat. She gets one for ringing the bell to go potty. She gets one for wiping her paws after coming in. We tried the no bedding in the crate and she just peed on the floor under the crate. She gets told over and over with positive reinforcement what a good girl she is when she pees outside. Ive read soooo many books and soooo many articles on this. Ive learned her anxious peeing is similar to that of a dog peeing because it's excited. The way she is....its just like she forgets we are not jerks. She's very defensive of her urine and can get aggressive if she's afraid. She's such a sweet and smart dog. I just want to help her. I'm trying to be patient but it's almost been a year now
A year if submissive peeing?
You say she is aggressive too?
I think that a professional trainer is needed and hopefully you find one. What breed is she?

She's a border collie. I've trained her out of most of her aggression. It stems from fear. She is no longer aggressive towards us but she still is to other dogs. She only gets aggressive now if she is anxious already and then urinates in the house. I suppose I should also mention that normally she does not have access to the crate during the day. She is only allowed access to have "nap time". This is usually when no one is going to be home. She knows to urinate before hand. During naptime she does not have accidents. Nap time has lasted the longest at 6 hours when I had to work late. The last time she had an accident in the crate was because she went on a "potty strike" before I had to go to work. I couldnt wait any longer because I was already late so she had to go to "nap time". I called my SO and told him to rush home when he got off to take her pee because I KNEW she would have an accident.

Well then I don't see you having any issues other than a dog that needed to pee..👍😕

Believe me she's come a long way. I'm not hiring a professional because I'm confident this can be handled. It used to be a daily thing. Now its a once in a little while and usually after an anxiety related incident (daddy took down a tree this week and thats when she peed in our sunroom) I'm thinking about getting her a thundershirt or one of those anxiety collers

Well thats my point. She didnt come get me to go potty. She just did it where she felt it was safe to go. Its not...but she needs to learn that. The question is how can I get her to come to ME to go outside to pee. Or at least go to the back door. She has to want to do the correct thing. I already know she wants to please us and she wants to get treats. It was just easier for her to go pee in the crate so she could go back to bed. Maybe shes just lazy? :lau

:hugs So sorry to hear about your trials and tribulations with Duchess. I had hoped that no news on her was good news, but... boo. I really don't know what to suggest in this case, because it's behavioral and she knows she shouldn't do it, but can't seem to quit.

My little dog still wants to pee in the house. She was good for a few months and then reverted when I went on a trip for 3 days (apparently I'm never allowed to leave again). She also can't wear diapers, can't use a pee pad, etc. because she'll EAT them. She CAN hold it in and knows she's supposed to. And she's fearful of crates so... we've taken to using a tie out next to her bed. She's always slept in this spot so she doesn't seem upset by it at all, but now she can't just walk off to pee - unlike Duchess mine won't pee in or near her bed. Normally I would never consider doing this due to obvious danger of choking, but she's very accepting of it and makes no attempt to pull or escape . I usually am home so most of the time she is not tethered.

Don't know if a Thundershirt will help (doesn't hurt to try though - although my dog ate hers, of course!) but another options would be either CBD oil, other calming aids/chews, or medication to help with her anxiety.

It was an accident. Remove the crate all together..

I'm definately going to try the pee pad thing that was suggested earlier. We have access to cloth ones we can use if she tries to eat them. She has an appointment next week for her final injections so I'll ask the vet about CBD for her anxiety. She was very anxious two days ago when dad went to cit the rest of the tree up but I put her on the lead with a carbiner at my waist and she calmed down quickly. When pacing back and forth wasnt an option she was forced to deal with her anxiety in a more constructive way, i.e. cuddle with mommy! When I went out to help him I put her in her "play crate" in the living room so she would remain calm. We introduced the "play crate" because of the heartworm treatment. She never goes potty in there
