Dog swollen eye

His eye does look irritated. I would get him looked at if it continues. I am curious about the bump on the top of his head, is that just his skull shape?

Yeah, I think maybe we'll take him Monday.

And the bump is his skull shape, yup! Weird huh? We thought maybe it was a bump of knowledge. he is really smart. That or a more practical answer might be from the Pyr side for ramming coyotes??

It doesn't look quite as red now after the eye wash earlier but I think it still looks irritated?

Good one.
I can itch for weeks from some big bites, so can out dogs, so maybe he just needs something extra. My one dog used to break out in hives continuously through the summer her first year and required pills for 2 weeks each time, so maybe he needs something like that.

He does have a big goofy head like a Pyrenees, though I've never seen the ridge so prominent.

And yeah, it's weird haha wonder if being a mix has anything to do with it?

Anyway, apparently Gator had a tick on the side of his face and one under his chin that my dad pulled today and put ointment on so we think that's what he was scratching at and he seems to feel better now so hopefully that's it and his eye will heal on it's own now! I muzzled him and tried to put more eye wash in his eyes, tried for a while, but I'm not sure I actually got any IN the eye... LOL I'm sure I got at least a little in though.

His eye still looks a little swollen/irritated though but he's not scratching it and my dad's really busy tomorrow so we probably can't take him.

I'm hoping the ticks were a large part of the problem.

He is acting much much better and even just ran something off.

His gums are a little pale though but it's been hot for 2 days and he finally started drinking and has a lot today so he'll get better

And he wants to play or at least hold onto his pillow tonight which he hasn't wanted to do so that's a good sign

I think we're finally going to take him to the vet tomorrow. I know we probably should have sooner but my dad's been busy plus we thought he was fine. But every time we think he's fine he gets bad again :/ his eye is looking better, thought still a little rough, and he has a speck of blood/scab on the top now, but he's gotten lethargic and doesn't eat much or want to go outside much. He's always been lethargic but more so the last few days. And today someone came to the door and he didn't even bark or get up when he normally goes ballistic.... and he has been relentlessly licking.... and no, not just his legs or wounds (i think he has a hot spit under his neck we put cortizone on today), he will just lick the bed for no reason and nothing will stop him..... he has soaked through the blankets to the sheets......

And i can't take him by myself because he can be aggressive with the vet sometimes and he's huge which is why we waited, my dad was going to take him Monday but we thought he was getting better, and he was, but now all of a sudden he's not :/

But why would he be relentlessly licking? And could that account for lethargy? Dehydration? But he's been drinking too. Here's an example

Oh no, that doesn't sound good. I hope they figure I out, poor old guy. Let me know if they find anything. Licking can be a sign of pain sometimes, definitely get him looked at.

Make sure they look in him mouth too for bad teeth or abscesses.
