That’s stupid lol what about all the other dogs being bred for just pets now? They don’t say anything about them?

Some did comment on that, some don’t like border collies being bred for sports

Im not saying they should be. Im saying these people commenting on GSDs don’t comment on those other breeds. That said, I don’t see what’s wrong with breeding for pets as long as it’s ethically done. I mean, after all, a pet is most dog’s biggest purpose.

I think they need to do sports, work or at least do conformation shows with their dogs. so not purely pets

purely pet means the dogs can only go to pet homes (with exceptions) and potentially healthy structure of the dog isn’t kept

Ahh okay. At least they commented on other breeds too.

And theoretically it’s possible for the dogs to be able to do sports or whatever still even if the parents don’t IF they are health testing and know what to look for in terms of drive and structure and stuff. I know of some breeders that used to show but got out of it. They would still know their stuff.

But usually for breeders, I agree they should do something with their dogs. But that doesn’t mean they can’t or don’t still sell or breed for pets. Most people aren’t going to show or do sports with their dogs so even show breeders are mostly breeding for pets or to keep one for themselves.

Hmm good point and good question. I have to like the looks and temperament of their dogs

That’s awesome! We used to have a Lab/Pyr and he was also great.
