Dog thread!🐾

Oh sorry! I didn't know!
That’s okay! no need to apologise! That was why I was telling you 😆

I am reading a book about guide dogs and turns out there is surprisingly little actual training that goes into one. It seems to be more lets hope the dog just does what it’s supposed to 😅 with as little instruction as possible

though this is written by one person who has worked in 2 guide dog schools, so other schools might be different

I also like this one but dont like some of the contract.

A aussie is definitely the first pup ill get once we move
I would pass on these unless you are looking for a smaller dog. These are are pretty small for an actual Aussie, plus they are pretty expensive, and the breeder has a kennel number which means they breed a lot. Wisconsin now has a law that requires breeders that sell more than 25 dogs a year to have a license and be inspected. Sounds like a good idea, but to me it's a red flag. There can be good breeders with kennel licenses, but I'd be wary.

The first breeder I had looked at a few times, but never contacted them.

Good to know!!!

The website sounds very good. Just remember, an Aussie wants to work. A 1 hr walk a day won’t provide him/her with enough, they want lots of exercise and also to use their heads, if you do that, they will be excellent pets, but if you don’t, they will find their own „entertainment„ which won’t be fun 🤪 Mine (a cross between Tervueren/Aussie) gets at least 2 walks per day, I do hoopers and agility

Thats why i want a aussie once we move to the country this way id teach it to herd the animals. And i definitely be doing agility.
We had lab aussie mix and he needed a lot of exercise and mental work(he seemed full aussie with no lab in his personality but his body was a lab.)

They look good from the website!

I actually don’t like them  I don’t know much about Aussies but their dogs look odd to me. I find it strange they are breeding a specific size and saying mini ones do exist but just not in the breed standards? Also they don’t say anything about doing things with their dogs unless I missed it?
I like the first breeder more.

I didnt see the thing about mini aussies i must have missed it. i want a dog that i can show and use not one that doesnt come from working lines.
