Dog thread!🐾

Well he is a good boy for finding cats and chickens. Tucker has to high of a prey drive for finding chickens and cats but he does find toys and people he is good with.
It’s taken quite some time he is getting it now, which im happy about!
Does Tucker do fine with the chickens otherwise or do you have to keep him separate? That’s good! About how long do you think it took him to get good at barking?

No, chickens are food to himšŸ˜…. Hr had a high prey drive so i dont trust him around them.

We are still working on it but have been for a bit over 6 months now. He is good at finding but his alerts werent always good so i started adding in the barking. His alerts before were to circle back around me a few times. But barking is easier.

That's sad šŸ˜‚ I'd hate it if Chase couldn't be around the chickens. He does have a high prey drive, but it doesn't seen as high as Tucker's. He sometimes does chase random things that go by, like squirrels, but he stops and comes back when I call him 100% of the time. I'm sure though if he had a higher drive that would be a lot harder. Ok, Chase took probably 8 months to bark without prompting so that seems pretty similar.

Tucker has always had a high drive. Birds squirrels and rabbits. If i dont see them he does. And yes he does bark and try and chase them. With his e collar he comes back right away never tested without it. But he had to have come from hunting lines somewhere. If he wasnt gun shy he would be a amazing hunting dog. He tracks and retrieves. We have a starter pistol sitting because Denver could care less and has little prey drive and i love how she is.

Im hoping he gets it within the next few months, but we will continue even if he doesnt get it

The high drive is nice, you can use it to your advantage. It just makes it harder when they see little furry thingsšŸ˜‚ When you said something about him being a field golden and you showed a picture of him, I thought his build looked a lot like Chase, but I’m not sure now. I think Chase is quite a big more muscular than Tucker, but I still think he is pretty slim compared to a lot of goldens I’ve seen. I bet he will!!

Yes, his high drive works with training. He is motivated. And if there is a day he doesnt want to play/train i know something is wrong.

Tucker is slim but i love it. He is active and at a ok weight. Je doesnt gain weight easy though. He is on a 450kcal per cup food right now and getting more than the weight recommended.
Chase is slimmer to but i think he is more a performance than field. He looks like a few performance breeder dogs ive seen. Still a beautiful pup
