What’s the difference between rally and obedience?

Rally is with signs that tell you what you do, obedience is where the judge calls out what to do. I'm sure there's more but that's the jist

I made the mistake of telling him he was getting a bath this time and he wouldn’t come near me and then went in his crate and nothing would get him out of there LOL I even was like just kidding and he almost came to me but then like an idiot I was like actually I’m not kidding, you really are getting a bath cause you rolled in geese poop and you smell and then he went in there. Cookies wouldn’t get him out, nothing. Not even the offer of going outside. But eventually that did work but ONLY when I put the other leash down and grabbed his outside line and ONLY when he realized I wasn’t pretending and wasn’t faking and really was going to let him outside LOL so I had to hook him up and then go go grab the other leash and hook him up to that and be like come on and bring him in and then he willingly came back in and right into the shower LOL he did get some cookies afterwards and NEVER AGAIN will I say BATH in advance LOL

And THAT is one reason why small dogs are better....just pick 'em up and put them in the bath.

How do you get into that stuff? I’d love to do it with Chase, he needs to be out around other people and dogs in a controlled environment. I just have no idea what to do. Is it actually controlled? I’m not taking Chase anywhere where dogs are
gonna be running around off leash and crazy.

Fair point I just love big dogs! I would never have anything smaller than 80-90 pounds. But I know little dogs are still dogs, size really doesn’t matter

I've only been to 4h shows and fairs but they are always controlled. Dogs aren't allowed off leash unless they are actively in a ring doing off leash exercises. 4h follows akc rules so they'd be the same at a akc show. If he's registered you can go on the akc site and do an event search near you. I recommend looking up rally videos on yt and study the signs first. I bought a rally guidebook that has all the signs and it's very helpful.

Yeah! Rally is definitely my favorite over obedience
