Dog thread!🐾

ooops sorry! I most have miss read your post šŸ˜… all the titles are that way because the point if the studies is to see if there is any welfare issue with aversive training methods

the conclusion they seem to come to is there aren’t enough studies to come to a a strong conclusions. aversive trained dogs do seem to show more stress signs then none (in and out training), play less and interact less with people. they also can’t find a reason to use aversive methods so reward based training is probably better

one study also showed aversive trained dogs interacted less with the environment and sniffed less

for me personally this is enough that at least I think aversive tools and methods should only be used by trainers that have a degree in dog behaviour/psychology/etc but that is my personal opinion

I don’t mind people having a polite discussion about the different training methods but I think the discussion rarely stay nice. I also think there is a lot of misinformation going around

one last thing is it shouldn’t be a argument at all that e-collars are a aversive tool, whether good or bad they wouldn’t work unless they where aversive
It’s okay! And ah okay I see.

I will say though that none of those things are true for Brewster. He never stops playing or trying to interact with people 🤣 and loves sniffing. I’m not saying it’s not true for some dogs though but Brew it’s not.

But yeah, there’s definitely a ton of misinformation

Maybe I’ll try this one as we are getting Tucker one! I like it better dont need id tags.
I really love it!! And I love the no tags thing too.

I got him the first one, the orange 1ā€ standard but they have different rings and colors and stuff.

He also used to have this one but the reflective stuff got all scratched up cause he’s hard on collars so I wanted to get him one without that this time. He just got the new one.

DuraSoft is supposed to be really good too but I haven’t tried it. All the biothane ones are really good though.
