What are everyone's opinions on head halters or Gentle Leaders?

I use them! Conditioning them is a pain though

I dont like them for the main reason it could really hurt them.
Id use a prong collar before ever using one of those.

I am the opposite

Yeah, I understand that it could cause their heads to whip around etc. But what about with a dog that doesn't pull much? So I used one (a very old one we've had for decades) with Luna on a hiking trail that is popular with people and their dogs. I used it to keep her from staring at other dogs. It seemed to work to avoid confrontation. I took it off and she growled at another dog.

I have been using them for a few years now and Fanta pulls a lot! I have never had them pull the dogs head around, normally they end up pulling the head back towards the dogs chest rather then to the side. obviously don’t use them on a long line! I wouldn’t consider them anymore dangerous then the different types of collars, to me slip leads and prongs seem more likely to cause damage, specially with the amount of dogs I see strangling themselves on slip leash!

I've seen head halters used with two leashes - one on the halter and one on the collar.

This is what I do if I know the dog is likely to lunge randomly

giant fluffy therapy dog sounds great! I have met some Pyrs before its so nice to cuddle a massive double coated dog .

Im so tired of nobody being able to control their dogs.
I cant even walk our town without problems because few people here know how to control their dogs.

Yesterday i saw 2 fake service dogs. Someone was dragging their lab out of the store because it wanted to meet everyone. Then someone had a tiny little chihuahua that wasnt friendly.

You’re welcome!! Lol and yes it is!!! Although it’s supposed to snow Tuesday but where has winter gone!? Not that I’m complaining LOL

Also a scoop or shovel would have been way easier! I used his poop bags so I had to squat and stand and/or twist every single time lol although after the first bag or two I decided to just dump them loose in the big trash bag rather than wasting 50 million little bags lol and then I put that big bag inside a couple other bags (both the others ripped so I had to use three but I would’ve at least double bagged anyway). And that bag was HEAVY by the end so lots of lifting too

Poop has been scooped! Yeah, I use a flat shovel with a garden hoe. I usually dump it into 5 gallon buckets (with lids) lined with hay. I then dump the full buckets on a pile in the weeds at the edge of the yard (we have a big yard).

Oh that’s a good idea lol but I think I have to actually throw it away due to certain family lol

Gah, Remy was doing so much better with the behavioral issues and then she had the whole poisoning thing and it like we had gone 3 steps forward and now 2 steps back. And pretty much right back where we started.
