Yeah some people are so clueless. People have definitely tried to pet Chase at the wrong time. They let their dogs just run up to other dogs (personal pet peeve of mine) and it’s infuriating. Chase is completely fine with other dogs, but it’s still annoying. My family used to have a really aggressive dog that had to be kept on a muzzle all the time. Once a puppy ran up to her and she went after it. My grandfather, who was walking her, very bluntly told the owner that if she hadn’t been in a muzzle the puppy would have been killed

The reason Tucker is reactive is due to owners letting their dog off lead with no recall. Its not even a pet peeve at this point. I dont muzzle Tucker all the time. But i do think he would bite if another dog came at him. He is so fearful. And associated people the wrong way to.

Having a reactive dog or even a aggressive dog makes you change your perspective on everything. I dont ask to pet peoples dogs anymore. I dont allow my dogs to be within 25 feet of another dog unless at training classes(and even then i sit in the farthest corner). And walking im always looking ahead and behind instead of just walking.
I remember our aussie lab loved all other dogs and people, and at that time a aggressive dog wasnt common in our area.

That makes me so mad. Other people’s carelessness caused your dogs to be affected for the rest of his life. I have Chase off leash all the time, but he has a near perfect recall, and he would never run up to another dog.

People probably think im weird but i double leash Tucker since he outgrew the harness(its just a back up if the collar breaks). And i carry a extra leash in case of another dog.
I also have a big treat pouch. Ive carried a Go pro to record(if a dog comes at him for a second time ill report it, especially if its certain people who dont care and shout hes friendly). I carry extra just in case

So true! With that dog I talked about earlier (her name was Dixie) is when I became aware of how serious you need to be with dogs. I was pretty little too.

Yeah, it ruined all our plans. He was going to be a medical alert SD but thats not going to happen. He does it at home but thats it.
Mine dont have perfect recall but Tucker had a e collar on if off leash and if it calls him off chasing a rabbit so will it a dog.

But they did get her at 5 months and didnt know her history. She was scared and shutdown.
