Made an unexpected trip to the vet this morning. I found out Luna has fractured two molars. She will have to have them extracted. Better now than later, I guess. But, man, this year is not giving us a break...

Im sorry.
I actually thought Denver had to. It looked like a crack in a premolar not molar. But the vet confirmed otherwise and just said to watch her a bit closer when she is chewing on bones

I had gotten them new buffalo bones and they were really hard so they got those took away.

That must have been a relief!
Actually, it is both of Luna's largest premolars that have slab fractures all the way down to the pulp. I am thinking a buffalo bone is the culprit. She wasn't allowed to have them after she cracked one bone in half one time, but she recently stole one from Dorie. Luna is a VERY aggressive chewer. I am throwing away all hard bones now...

Yeah Denver was chewing hard on the buffalo bone. Im looking at different chews. Wondering if yak chews are softer. Then otherwise its just bully sticks.

I was looking at rabbit ears and buffalo/cow cheek rolls to.

I was just doing some research and a few people on Reddit said their dogs cracked teeth on yak chews. They might be able to be softened though.

Yeah ive seen some you can soften.
Ive seen lamb/sheep horns to that are softer to.

Dehydrated and frozen duck feet/chicken feet are good.

Would an at-home made layered jerky chew possibly work? Soft, but plenty of layers to get through, so it takes them time? Maybe put thick peanut butter between the layers and freeze then thaw to the right hardness?
