Dog thread!🐾

I've noticed this on my dog lately. Black scabby something that's symmetrical on the backs of his ears, elbows, and hocks. The black scabby bits go further out from the bare areas. I've seen flies on them, but it doesn't seem to bother him at all. I haven't seen him scratching once. Golden Retriever/German Shepherd, he's just 8 months old now so I haven't started him on skin or allergy supplements. Skin allergy? Infection? Or nothing? I noticed the ones on his elbows and hocks several weeks ago, but didn't get a chance to look closer. I thought it was just because it's a general gland area, but then I saw it on the ears and found the crusty black things. Not sure that the crusty black is on the elbows and hocks too, though, it didn't totally look like it, but those still looked rough. He's outside all day (with shade and water 24/7, unless it's really hot then he's in) and in all night, if that could indicate anything.
On the ears it's is generally fly strike. I remember it from when I wad a kid and dogs were outside. The elbows and hocks could be pressure calluses if its a heavy dog lying on a hard surface. I personally would have a vet do a skin scraping to make sure it isn't mites which sometimes happens at that age.

Fly Strike certainly sounds scary. We will see about having a vet take a peek.
In the meantime, is there anything to do about the potential fly strike? There has been no redness or anything, but his skin is black/grey so it's a bit hard to tell.
I guessing wash, pick out/wipe off the black crust/flakes, and put some sort of fly repellent on him?

The ones on the elbows and hocks are normal I think, pressure calluses like spike said. But if they are identical to the ones on the ears that would be weirder.
I do think that the elbows and hocks are just pressure callouses, since he is always lying either on dirt or in his crate with no bedding (he'd eat it).
Seems like those ones are callousy, and the ones on the ears have some skin flakes or scabs or something.

They used to sell a repellant for ears. I had to put it on my German shepherds ears every summer. I'm not if they still sell it, wait, they do,
