Yeah...my current vet says it has to do with how popular a breed is - any time a breed becomes popular there will be more and more poorly-bred dogs of that breed and with that comes more and more health issues. She mentioned Labs, Rotties, Pit Bulls, and Goldens in that list.

A family member of mine went and got a doodle. Honestly that I can think of that's the first time someone in my family went out of their way to not get a purebreed. The dog's really young and I seem to always be hearing about some new or ongoing medical issue.

Yes its unfortunate. I do love rescue dogs and have met many amazing ones. But it all comes at a cost. Even some ethically bred ones can get joint issues.

That's wonderful! But he's still young yet. My first mutt tore her cruciate ligament at 5 years old and Luna tore hers at 6.
