It's because he's black and has floppy ears. His head is very different from a lab's. And his feet.

See the deeper dip between the eyes and how the snout and forehead aren't as flat as Jäger's. And Jäger's snout is quite a bit longer.
And also the space between the base of the ears is a lot larger on a lab. And those small feet!

Lol, yeah he will hopefully feather out. He has some really light feathering on his tail, and his mom didn't feather until 1.5 years.

Then these side profiles. He looks super similar to that one with the longer legs! It'll be interesting to compare again when he's not a puppy. I wonder if this first picture is a juvenile, I honestly don't know much about labs.

I think the top one is an American lab, and the bottom is an English lab?
