I am also working with my German Shorthaired Pointer. I do hunt birds with her, but she is learning that the chickens are off limits. I do use a remote training collar to enhance the training. The flock free-ranges under strict supervision with my dog. She's actually very handy for helping me "herd" them back to the run at the end of the day. She really loves to just lay down and watch them putter about around her.
