Dogs more important than Chickens?

Opinions and judgements are just that. Stating an opinion is egging on nothing unless someone chooses to react. You can choose the reaction that suits your agenda.
Right... But the point has been made several times throughout these 11 pages. It's redundant at this point so yeah, it's hard not to see it as egging on by now. We get it, some of you would shoot a dog on sight and some of us wouldn't. No new perspectives are being added here anymore.

Well, provide some. We can all use/accept enlightenment.
I said my two cents some pages back. Feel free to go back read my replies. But I literally just said, several times now, "it's subjective and nuanced, let's leave it at that". I couldn't care less who has the last say in the end, but going around in circles is pointless. :p

Imo posting things like "if your dog is in my yard killing my chickens I shoot it" in response to somebody saying that dogs are important to them isn't leaving anything at anything.
Well, for one, in none of my posts have I said that I would shoot the dog. Perhaps you chose to make that assumption, but there are many other ways of dealing with the situation as many here have suggested. I do note circular reasoning here on the part of some. What is the 'last say'? There is no answer to the question posed to start the thread. It was/is simply a call for opinions.

I also said in the exact reply that you're quoting that none of this is directed at you specifically :idunno You really like to think I assume everything, don't you? Considering I keep having these types of interactions with you where you use that exact word.

I don't think I need to be picked at for saying that it's getting a little ridiculous when nothing new is being achieved here.

The answer to the topic question is, any creature that belongs in my fenced backyard (it can be my own dog, my cats, my chickens, my child ) is more important than any rabid beast coming from outside. It doesn't matter if it's a 25K$ dog. Maybe the owner should have spent 10 extra bucks for a leash and nothing bad would have ever happened. I spent money for a fence to keep things outside, and a fence is already a clear warning that nothing and nobody is welcome inside without permission.
I witnessed a random dog, who was let free inside my neighbor unfenced property, chasing and almost killing my neighbor cat, almost jumping my fence to get to the cat. The owner watched, pleased. I confronted the lady and told her that if I ever saw that dog without a leash inside a private property again, I would have shot it on sight.
