Yesterday we got 2 new dogs named charlie and bear. They were austailian shepard/lab mixes. Today my brother had them outside and darted off onto the state property next to us. Despite shocking them, they didnt come back. Hopefully they will come back but we havent had them long at all(only a day).

Best of luck finding your dogs. Since they are so new to you, to training, and so on, they probably didn't understand anything about shock training collars yet so didn't know what to do other than keep running away.

Well, they are 2 years old, so they have a little training. They got shocked 1 time( I forgewet why) and they did fine. I guess they caught a trail of animal....

Sorry, but put a collar on me, shock me and I will run away too. The Princess did that to me once, and I stayed away for a month. I hope you had your contact number on their collars.

The problem is, if they don't know why they are being shocked, it won't do any good at all. It is one thing to give a shock when your dog growels at your livestock, and another if you just willy nilly give it a shock for running off while it thinks it is playing.

What was the reason for the shock collar?

I guess I would not have let them out with out a secure fence or on a chain until I had them more than a day and they understood that this is Home. My dad has had a dog for about a month and he still chains it because he doesn't want her to run. Eventually he will let her off, but all the neighbors have now met her and know her and where her home is.
