Dogs scared off late night intruder

It's a little after 3 AM here and this happened around 1 AM.
I had woken up at 11pm(Went to bed around 8:30pm).

Anyway

While I was watching a movie on the computer, I heard something either bump or try and open the screen door but 2 of our 3 dogs started barking and whoever it was ran off.
I went to look out the window but I didn't see anybody.
The motion light was still on for a few more minutes before turning off.

I'm pretty sure that if the dogs hadn't barked, that person would have gotten in somehow.
I wouldn't have been surprised if they had as last year someone tried to stealed my bike at 6 AM while I was awake and the dogs didn't bark to let me know. Luckily at that time, our neighbor chased off the bike thief.

We do have cameras, just haven't had enough time to put them up. And no this doesn't happen a lot. Most of this stuff happens in town where the teenagers hang out, since the teenagers are the ones causing trouble by shooting people and driving like asses.
