After a disastrous storm (not the first one) the survivors are featherin out and doin good, I have one very small bitty quail, they will be a week old tomorrow and there are 33 left after losing 17.. big hit, a real gut punch !! I lost power for 6 hours with eggs still in the incubator, I lost the roof off the barn, a wood shed with attached feed room and the top off 3 different animal pens/coops, lost 5/10 Turkey poults, 14/47 layin hens, 6/15 layer quail hens and 4/13 rabbits.. late Friday night we had 90 mph straight line winds initially and 3 seperate storms over 4 hours.. 4.5 inches of blowing rain and 2 inch hail... it was unbelievable.. still thankful for what I have.. losses happen but they are never easy.. my daughter and grandson just got the electricity restored earlier today from the same storm Friday night.. plus the heat index/feels like temperature right now is 113-120 here in NE Texas.. keep on keepin on y’all !!!

I'm glad you're okay! The losses don't sound good, but as you said, thankful for what you have.

That little one may not make it. In my experience, the little ones that fail to grow often just don't wake up one day. I hope you have better luck!

I try to not let anything go to waste.. couldn’t salvage chickens or turkeys though.. the hail beat them beyond use, I cleaned several but they were bruised and broken bad, I could have made dog food but didn’t have a way to keep them cool with power out and feels like temp at 112°. So I had to prioritize, saved as many quail chicks as possible, and processed 4 fryer rabbits and 10 quail.. then focused on gathering chickens that were blown over the fence and getting all the trees off the fences and clear the driveway and get the barn tin and lumber back that I could reuse.. what a mess..
