Doing some research on quail

I'm in about the same situation as you, about to go off to college but I live in a townhouse so space is at a premium and I've still managed to keep quite a number of button quail (just hatched some Coturnix so we'll see how that goes lol). The cheapest and easiest way I've found to keep them is in a large plastic storage bin, nice and spacious plus easy to clean. Small animal water bottles are also great, a nice way to keep water spillage to a minimum.

Thanks for all the greetings and advice!

My general aim with coturnix would be to have them as pets, with a side bonus of eggs and entertainment. That's why I'd like coturnix, I've read they tame really easily and are friendly. I'd really like an outdoor pen so I can have them in a nice, enriching habitat with plenty of space, plus I could keep finches in a large enough pen. The finches would be decorative only, not pets, of course.

I have a thread here https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/quail-shed-instead-of-a-pen.1205905/#post-19131983 and am getting plenty of help on it, which is great. I'm running the thread now because I like to research things ahead of time, and because I want to know what supplies I might need to save up for.
