Doing the ducky deed?

I do this for my chickens occasionally- well normally leftover eggs, not just cooked for them. Anyhow-they love them and I figure they've got to be fairly nutritious for them. They love them shell and all and the ducks also enjoy them. I've not fed cooked duck eggs though because those are especially reserved for baking at our house.

Thank you for this! My drake mounted one of my girls in the water the other day and I about had a heart attack thinking he was going to drown her, haha! He's just started I his "boyish ways" so it was a bit of a heart stopper to look out and see!

It depends on the ratio of males to females. Roosters will do the same when there are lots of them compared to the hens. There are certain times of the year when my poor duck hens were snatched bald-headed along the backs of their necks due to the frequent attention of the drakes. They will gang up on a convenient hen, sometimes by land or in their pool. So far I haven't had any drownings.

I had and incident where my drakes had a hen pinned with her head through the trunk of a blueberry bush, with two drakes holding her head on the one side of the bush and the other drake at the other end. They were immediately separated into separate pens/houses. Luckily I was home and available at the time or she would have been dead. It's a wonder they didn't break her neck in the time it took me to get to them.

We have a 3:3 ration. Started with 3:1 - taught me not to get straight run ducklings~!
