And just an FYI, I believe the cuts towards the end and lack of video of the actual "capture" and getting them in the crate, is because he was helping us as opposed to manning the camera!

I remember looking up and over and seeing him there across the fence from me, without the camera. It took all of us to get this done! So, Cheers and a lot of Thanks go out to everyone!

Wow, that's a lot of work. Too bad you couldn't take that pomeranian goose and the ducks, but I think you said that they've been there for a while, so they're probably OK.

Was able to get quite a few videos and pictures. Working on uploading now! D Was able to get them to come within a foot of me, with me sitting on the ground with them. Almost tried to hand feed the lead Gander, since he was the closest one. But was worried he still might bight me instead. So I just placed it by his beak, and he ate it.

A question for all the Geese experienced... What does it mean when they bow to you?! Also when the walk toward you, with their neck stretched out along the ground and head down?! Especially the lead Gander?! Is it subservience, aggression, a thank you for the food, or just a hello?! I have a video of the lead Gander, and i think some of the others doing the behavior. Kind of reminds me of the whole "roll over and expose the tummy" thing that dogs do when they are showing submission. But I've never had experience with Geese before, so it could mean just the opposite.

Okay, so he was just guarding his food! Ha ha ha!

That makes sense! Silly Goose! I was the one throwing it to him!

I wonder if I shouldn't allow that behavior with me, considering I'm supposed to be head Goose?! Strange dealing with aggression in a prey animal. Don't know how to react to it. How does one chastise a goose?!

Don't really want to do the whole neck grab thing and picking them up, like that one article recommends. At least not right away.

How long did it take ya'll to finally get them rounded up and crated? and looks like if you'd had more crates you could have taken home some ducks too. They are beautiful, also my gander does the neck low to the ground when telling the ducks and chickens to back off, he will try it with us but he is really a scaredy cat at heart and if you don't act afraid of let him intimadate you then he'll respect you as leader. Sometimes during mating I'll take the broom with me and if he starts to get nasty I'll just put the broom between us and he will back off.

Usually when I see Chinese stretching out their necks along the ground, it's aggression and it means they want you (or the other geese, ducks, etc) to move back. Some ganders will almost rub their heads on the ground or point their bill upward. Sometimes, they will bite if you don't move fast enough. If they threaten you, don't move away because they will, most likely bite (especially if you turn your back). If you want to move away, do it before he gets too close.

Generally, the more upright and relaxed the neck, the better.
