Dominant Duck??

I have 3 ducks that are 1 year and 2 that are 3 months. One of my older Cayugas is the total boss of the flock. She puffs up when I come by and she doesn't want me to mess with her friends. She's loud!!! And now she is broody (sitting on a golf ball) ugh! But she is not at all aggressive. She doesn't try to bite or anything even when I need to grab her or shoo her off eggs. She's just the boss and makes sure everyone knows it!

It starts this early? Does this show he/she will be an aggressive duck?

My ducklings from this year started establishing the group order within the first week. Lots of bill jousting and chest bumping. From this years duckling my tiniest duckling is the boss. From last years ducklings, the biggest duckling was the boss.

I think it's the size of the sass, not necessarily the size of the duckling, that determines who is the boss :).
