Dominant Hen

I can only have 2 chickens in my city and I have heard that without a rooster one of the hens will take over the dominant role and stop laying eggs and start crowing.

How true is this?

That is not really true, it can happen but is very rare. I had 3 hens, now 2, they are fine and laying. Your hens should be fine

I have had several hens in the past with no rooster. I did have a dominant hen, but there was no crowing and she laid eggs just fine. She just established herself as the boss of the hen house.

I had a dominant hen one time that whipped my Red rooster and then she got killed by a varmit while protecting the girls and boy.
