I appreciate the thought, though it might have been facetious.

My concern is HOW TO TRANSPORT SIX COCKERELS IN A CAR FOR 4 HOURS?!

A couple big boxes with straw, closed so it's dark inside is what I'm thinking. Oh, and small air holes.

Oh no, I would totally send you gas money. I would so feel bad that you had to drive 8 hours in one day, sending you $10 on paypal is the least I can do. The things we do for our roosters.

Next option is to start an animal sanctuary at your house. I am not sure if I am serious or kidding with that one.

I have always wanted a bachelor flock, since I seem to have good luck with roos and totally fall in love with almost every one that crosses my path. I just don't have the infrastructure right now, but I'll bet that when I have a little more time on my hands I could start up something community funded. There is a problem everywhere of what to do with male birds, especially ones that don't even make sense to have someone eat, or ones that their owners would rather see them live out their lives.

IF I were retired, home during the day, I wouldn't mind a bit keeping more birds, animals.

I'd have dogs, cats, a couple goats, and even chickens.

But...I'm still working full time, and my husband is disabled and needs a lot of attention from me once I get home from work. Our son watches him during the day and does most of the housework and grocery shopping (BLESS HIM!) but I couldn't commit to more than what I have right now.

Yeah, makes total sense. It can get really hairy with animals, so one would need to set aside even more time and resources to be able to keep more.
